Sunni Meador is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with adolescents, Transitional Age Youth (TAY), and LGBTQ+ clients. They especially enjoy supporting people as they navigate identity development, life transitions, trauma, and the work of building resilience, all within an affirming and client-centered environment. Their approach begins from the belief that healing happens through connection, and that people grow when they can be fully themselves without judgment.

Sunni's therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and AFFIRM Youth, an evidence-based, CBT-informed intervention designed specifically to support LGBTQ+ young people. They are also expanding their clinical skills through training in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Their hope is that clients leave therapy feeling more empowered and understood, with practical tools for life's challenges, a strengthened sense of self, and meaningful change that aligns with their own values.

Sunni holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and brings more than ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector, where they provided HIV, housing, and mental health services. They have specialized clinical training in working with LGBTQ+ youth and have spent the past three years providing psychotherapy in private practice. Alongside anxiety, depression, and life transitions, they also support clients working through trauma and PTSD.

Outside of work, Sunni enjoys time with friends, watching anime, crocheting, exploring tarot and astrology, and getting creative with pottery. They are also a firm believer in a good nap and in making time to relax, recharge, and stay connected to the things that bring them joy.

  • Sunni is client-focused, tailoring therapy to each person's individual goals, experiences, strengths, and needs rather than working from a fixed template.

  • They are resource-driven, helping clients identify practical tools, community supports, and strategies that extend well beyond the therapy room.

  • They bring a genuine and authentic presence to their work, creating a space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported throughout their healing journey.

"I believe healing happens through connection. When people learn they can be fully themselves without judgment, they create space for growth, resilience, and lasting change.
