Kaitlyn Harrison is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who creates a deeply validating therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely heard, recognized, and accepted exactly where they are. With specialized expertise in anxiety, depression, and family conflict, she brings particular passion and skill to working with young people ages 8-18, young adults navigating major life changes and decisions, and adults and couples experiencing shifts in their ability to manage day-to-day tasks. Kaitlyn's approach is founded on the belief that everyone deserves to feel listened to and worthy of support, and she designs each therapeutic space to honor the unique needs and experiences of the individual sitting across from her.
Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Therapy. This comprehensive toolkit allows her to address both individual symptoms and the family dynamics that often contribute to or maintain mental health challenges. Kaitlyn's methodology emphasizes gentle exploration and curiosity about uncomfortable emotions, helping clients develop tolerance, acceptance, and strength to navigate difficult feelings safely. Her expertise in exposure therapy provides specialized tools for addressing childhood anxiety and phobias through structured, evidence-based interventions that build confidence and reduce avoidance patterns.
With nearly 8 years of combined undergraduate and graduate academic training and a decade of specialized clinical experience, Kaitlyn brings exceptional depth to her work with youth and families in crisis. She has spent 10 years working in intensive partial hospitalization and outpatient treatment programs, providing support and crisis management for young people and their families during their most difficult moments. This extensive background in acute care settings has equipped her with advanced skills in crisis intervention, family conflict resolution, and helping clients find recovery and empowerment when circumstances feel overwhelming. Her specialized training in childhood anxiety and exposure techniques allows her to offer evidence-based interventions specifically tailored to young people's developmental needs.
Beyond anxiety, depression, and family conflict, Kaitlyn also supports clients navigating childhood anxiety disorders, crisis situations, life transitions and adjustments, and grief and loss. What sets her apart is her commitment to exploring emotions with purpose and safety, recognizing that our feelings communicate to us in varied ways and deserve thoughtful attention. She is particularly skilled at empowering clients to sit with and navigate the most difficult and uncomfortable emotions in the present moment, fostering the emotional tolerance and strength needed for lasting healing and growth.
"My hope is that you will find yourself empowered to navigate through uncomfortable emotions through gentle exploration and curiosity," Kaitlyn shares. "I also want to connect in finding language and communication in this shared space together that fits you. I want you to know that all of who you are is deserving of processing and recovering in a space that is fashioned just for you."
Outside the therapy room, Kaitlyn nurtures her own well-being and relationships through quality time with family and friends, understanding firsthand the vital importance of meaningful connection in maintaining mental health. She enjoys discovering new board games and family games to play together, appreciating the combination of fun, strategy, and shared laughter these activities provide. Kaitlyn challenges herself to read at least one new book each month, feeding her curiosity and continuous learning while modeling the importance of personal growth and self-care practices that she encourages in her clients.
With 10 years of intensive experience in partial hospitalization and outpatient treatment programs, Kaitlyn brings exceptional crisis management skills and deep expertise in supporting young people and families through their most challenging moments, providing stability and hope when circumstances feel overwhelming.
Her specialized training in childhood anxiety and exposure therapy equips her with evidence-based tools specifically designed for young people, helping children and adolescents build confidence and reduce anxiety through developmentally appropriate, structured interventions that create lasting change.
Kaitlyn's commitment to exploring uncomfortable emotions with purpose and safety, combined with her empowering approach to building emotional tolerance in the present moment, helps clients develop the strength and skills needed to navigate difficult feelings rather than avoiding them, fostering genuine resilience and transformation.
